"Memories are the real gifts to take us back to our good golden days & people."
...I was very close to him, I did a lot of things to him like taking care of his medicines, house hold activities, counting coins/rupees, taking care of his shelf/locker to keep things..etc. He was a master craftsman in his field of work, the favourite 'Cooking'. He could do almost all types of breakfast Idli, Dosa, Chappathi, Poori..etc and all varieties of rice/lunch.
He was very good at making sweets. I can never forget the days when he used to give me sweets like Badam Halwa, Laddu, Jeera Poli.. on weekends. The moment he enters the house he would distribute the sweets and he would do it very happily and whole heartedly. He was always to be more energetic and also would like to share his enthusiasm to others and expect the same from others. He never ever felt on his age, before involving in a tough work or heavy work.
He was a god-belief man and lived his life without any bad habits. Even, today whenever I listen to a particular devotional songs/slogams, automatically my mind gets connected with his memories. He was more enthusiastic and energetic during the month of June-July. He involved himself in doing cover work for all the notebooks & textbooks for all of us. He would do it perfectly and would take utmost care in completing the task. He enjoyed every moment of the work wherever he was involved in cooking, house-keeping, kids work, devotional..,
He showed very much interest and also loved to call me as Vijayakumar, ofcourse Kannan too. Whenever he calls me so, you could find sense of closeness & pride on him.
He was very happy and fulfilled man on the day when I showed my under graduation degree certificate to him and got his blessings.
Very often, Iam getting dreams about him like speaking to him, just watching his actions or listen to his speech/actions..somehow I feel that he is driving me day by day with a lot of changes/growth in my life which he wanted to see it in his lifetime itself, but its very unfortunate for me, not able to share my growth with him. Last week, I had a dream where I was talking and listening to him, he was sitting in his 'Kalla Petti'(cashier counter/chair). That was nice.
He suffered a lot in his early age, early-middle & old age because of his health conditions and family was also not economically sound. He ventured in hotel business along with his beloved and respected brother. Those days were really a nightmare for him to run a good life. Later, he was a happy & relaxed person between his 48 and 68. But, thats the period he has completely involved himself in the expansion of the entire family of arranging more than 15 marriages for both sons & daughters, studies of more than 12 grand children, business expansion, properties and other major family functions.
Still I remember the places where he used to sit and rendered all the slogams, pooja, reading books..etc Whatever the life we have today, he was the one who sowed it properly and had a vision to grow the entire family.
He is always THE MAN of the MOMENT/MEMORIES, Mr. Sthanu Iyer!
Lot of memories on him to cherish, trying to keep my memories as fresh as possible to get his blessings to make my life more successful and meaningful.
